Our Journey
through the years
From humble beginnings to a respected name in British butchery, the Town & Country Meats Group story is one of passion, integrity, and steady growth. Built on traditional values and a commitment to quality, our journey reflects decades of hard work, trusted relationships, and an unwavering focus on delivering exceptional meat products. This timeline charts the key milestones that have shaped who we are today, celebrating the people, progress, and principles that continue to drive Town & Country Meats Group forward.
2000
We opened our doors as a local retail outlet, serving our community the way a good butcher should.
2010
Demand had outgrown the shop floor. We split into retail and wholesale operations and our wholesale side found a new home on Landport Road, trading as Town & Country Meats. It was the first sign that something bigger was taking shape.
2019
We incorporated as Town & Country Meats Group Ltd and expanded into six units on Landport Road. What had begun as a single counter was becoming a serious operation.
2021
We leased Unit 23 on Landport Road, pushing our cold storage capacity beyond 200 pallets and opened a purpose-built facility in Crawley near Gatwick, creating new jobs and extending our reach further than ever. That same year, the UK’s Free Trade Agreement with Australia and New Zealand opened the door to new supplier networks.
2023
Then came the leap overseas. From 2023, we began importing directly from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, alongside our first orders from Australia and New Zealand, this strengthened our supply chain and gave us access to sourcing channels that many competitors cannot match.
2025
Behind every milestone was a growing team. Between 2023 and 2026 we went from 20 people to 60 and we are still recruiting.
2026
With new sites in Poole and Darlington extending our reach into the South, South West and North, our footprint keeps growing. So does our ambition.
