Working towards a more

Sustainable future

We’re taking practical steps to improve the way we source, manage and deliver our products, focusing on responsible sourcing, reducing food waste and improving delivery efficiency. Our approach is continuing to evolve, and we’re committed to being clear about the progress we make and the areas where we can do better.

Responsible sourcing

We source beef, lamb, pork and poultry through established suppliers and producers across the UK and internationally, with partners across the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

Our suppliers may operate under recognised assurance schemes covering areas such as animal welfare, food safety, farm assurance, responsible feed sourcing and traceability.

Requirements vary by supplier, product and country of origin. Our team can provide further information on product origin and relevant assurance schemes.

Reducing food waste

We supply approximately 450 tonnes of meat each week and take practical steps to reduce avoidable food waste across our operations.

Where suitable, surplus products are offered to customers at discounted prices, giving them the opportunity to be sold and used rather than going to waste.

For products that remain unsold, we work with a specialist animal by-product waste contractor, with collections taking place weekly for appropriate treatment or disposal.

Smarter delivery planning

We’re implementing technology-supported route planning to help us plan deliveries more efficiently, make better use of our fleet and reduce unnecessary mileage.

As we continue to develop the system across our delivery network, we’re measuring its impact on delivery distances, fuel use and operational efficiency.

We’re also introducing electronic proof of delivery, reducing our reliance on printed paperwork while providing customers with more accurate delivery records.
